Asian Companies Share Profits

Asian Companies Share Profits

According to Halbis, Asian companies are increasingly willing to share their profits with investors by paying out dividends to shareholders.  Twenty per cent of companies surveyed were paying steadily rising dividends in 2007, compared to only 15 per cent in 2002.  Halbis‘s data excludes Japan, but includes Singapore, South Korea, Thailand, Malaysia and Indonesia.

Our view

Dividends have always been an important driver for investors and in Asia as growth in the region has continued, so to has the investor's appetite.  Be warned though, ‘what goes up must come down’.

We suggest a move away now from Asia to UK and US big company stocks.
