Around 23 per cent of first time buyers expect to spend at least 5 years saving for a deposit on their first home, according to Santander Mortgages. Over half of first time buyers will be using savings as their deposit for their first home.
Just over one in four (28 per cent) first time buyers are now taking on second jobs or overtime to boost their deposit fund and another 27 per cent are hoping to boost their deposit by taking out a loan.
