Women Save Less And Retire Earlier

Published / Last Updated on 12/11/2006

According to research carried out by Clerical Medical, women over 50 have less in private savings, and plan to retire earlier. It has found that only 30 per cent of women draw a full state pension and more women have no private pension.

Clerical Medical are planning to launch campaigns to help prepare people for a comfortable retirement as statistics show that women live 5 times longer than men.

Our view

As ever, many women do not build careers as their biggest job is normally looking after family, this puts them at a disadvantage both career and salary wise.

There is little you can do help them 'catch up' save launching 'family pensions' where all members can benefit and contribute.
