
UK Unemployment 2.5 Million.
Unemployment in the second quarter was up by 38,000 and now stands at 2.49 million. Between June and July the number of people claiming job-seekers allowance rose to 1.56 million.
Figures from the Office for National Statistics also revealed employment figures for UK-born and non-UK-born citizens. Since 1997, the number of non-UK-born individuals has increased from 1.9 million to 4.1 million, which is an increase of 116%.
Comparing employment figures between April 2010 and April 2011, employment rose from 28.9 million to 29.2 million, but UK-born workers dropped from 25.05 million to 25.00 million. In comparison, non-UK-born workers increased from 3.86 million to 4.15 million.
