Teenagers Plan To Buy Homes

Published / Last Updated on 21/03/2005

95% of teenagers are planning to become homeowners, according to a survey by IFA Promotion, the lobbying group for Independent Financial Advisers.

Half of teenagers believe that they will buy their first property with their partner, while 29% of males and 20% of females say that they intend to own more than one property.  50% of the teenagers questioned said that they would ask their parents for advice on mortgages and buying a property, while fifteen per cent said that they would get specialist advice from a financial adviser.

Our view

Children are taught values by their parents.   As we are principally an owner/occupier nation, these results are expected.
