An estimated two million children are likely to lose out on part of their child trust fund allowances because of when their birthdays are according to a report.
Those born between 1st September, 2002, and 5th April, 2005, all qualify for inclusion, but will lose allowances for the first and even second years of their lives. This is because the child trust funds cannot be opened before 6th April, 2005, and payments cannot be backdated.

A line has to be drawn somewhere. Whatever and wherever the line is drawn will always present winners and losers.
