Santander U-Turn on Free Banking.
Santander business customers that have accounts which are meant to be free banking forever, will now have to pay £7.50 a month. Customers are now receiving letters with an advanced warning of the changes, which are due to start this year. Some customers are not happy with the situation with some comments stating that free banking was meant to be forever as promised.
About 230,000 small businesses that currently bank with Santander will be affected but just how many will remain with the bank. The Santander free banking accounts that are going to start getting charged are mainly ones that have been gained from banks that they have taken over.
