It has come to light that a credit reference agency, Experian, is aware that some companies are refusing loans to people who are not registered on the electoral roll.
Whilst this may cause borrower’s a few problems, other proof that they live at the address is acceptable and Experian are being praised for highlighting this black area in some circles.
Our view
This is dangerous. It is against the law to not be registered on the Electoral Roll and it takes minutes to telephone your Local Authority to be registered. The question should be ‘why are you not registered?’
