Rabbit Hutch Home Controls

Rabbit Hutch Home Controls.

The government has launched a consultation paper with regard to the control and regulation of ultra-small private dwelling property.

Rabbit hutch homes are so called because they are extremely small, bedsit type properties with fold down beds, small show/kitchenette units.

Imagine it being like living in a campervan.

The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) suggests that the UK has the greatest ratio of rabbit hutch homes compared to the rest of Europe.

Comment
The UK is an island.  In the words of Mark Twain "buy land, they are not making anymore".  There is no more land yet the population looks set to increase by another 10m people in the next 15 years or so.

Demand for space, particularly in London and the South East is high meaning more developments of this kind are popular.

The consultation will look at ways to explain and display the size of property that you look to buy or rent and even set minimum standards of what can be approved as a private dwelling.
