
Public Support Tighter Mortgage Rules
According to a survey from housing charity Shelter, three quarters of first-time buyers believe in stronger mortgage regulation. It also revealed that 79% of first-time buyers believe banks and building societies were not responsible in their lending practices prior to the credit crisis.
Nearly 84% of first-time buyers believe lenders should only offer a mortgage to those who can afford it and 28% revealed that they had been offered a larger mortgage than they had asked for.
