Pensions Plans In Job Ads

Published / Last Updated on 02/09/2004

The TUC has called for pension plans to be pushed to the fore as a major benefit when employers advertise for vacancies. They say that reserach that they commissioned found that less than 10% of vacancies mentioned retirement benefits and less than 1% actually mentioned any employer contributions to a pension.

Our view

Pensions are a fantastic benefit for employees but many do not realise this.  Likewise, employers do not push the benefit enough.  Perhaps employers do not value the benefit as much either?

The fact remains that both employers and employees only value a pension when it is too late!  This again boils down to education of the public into the need to save.

Sorry - we are "rabbiting on" about finance education again!
