Pensions On Digital TV Not Working

Published / Last Updated on 26/08/2003

The Government's Pension Service (part of the Department for Work and Pensions) dealing with State Pension information and old age pension forecasts etc has issued a report saying that its pilot interactive TV site has delivered poor results with many still preferring the Internet.

The pilot service was launched in 2002 and has seen poor results in terms of numbers of users etc with people saying that the download time of information is somewhat slower than using the Internet directly.

Our view

As with any new way of accessing information, the Digital TV route is essentially powered by Internet server engines and as such it is bound to be quicker by directly using the Internet.

Communications will improve and "armchair financial planning" will become reality.  Perhaps not for five years or so.
