A new group of 15 organisations has been formed, to open the debate of long-term care and all that it involves.
The new group, whose members include the Association of British Insurers, Age Concern and Help the Aged will try to address issues which will include who will pay for care, how to support the informal care system and how to encourage people to contribute towards care costs.
Our view
Most people are unaware of the costs involved in long-term care and some get a nasty surprise when they are faced with it. Apart from pension planning, we believe care in old age is the next major financial services issue that needs to be addressed.
