 Northern Rock Guarantee Ends

The Government has announced an end to their 100% backing of Northern Rock, which will take effect for existing account holders on 24 May 2010.  Savers will then fall within the Financial Services Compensation Scheme with maximum protection of £50,000 per person.

For those taking out new accounts, they will fall within the remit of the FSCS immediately.
