New Landlord EPC Rules To Cost £10k Per Property

Published / Last Updated on 29/01/2022

Two weeks ago we issued a video warning of changing EPC rules for landlords.  All landlords will be required to have any property taking on a new tenant to be EPC C rated from 2025 and any properties with ongoing tenancies to be EPC C rated by 2028.

According to research by Aldermore Bank, it has estimated that the average cost per property to bring it up to EPC C will be £10,400.

The report also suggests that most landlords will do the minimum to the get the energy performance certificate rating up to C.

The directors of this business are experience landlords and all but one of our properties has already had works, energy efficient heating and new insulation to bring the property up to C.  In our experience, the costs have been on average c £5,000 but we appreciate that larger properties are likely to cost more.  Read our guidance note and watch the video for our tips on getting to EPC C.
