Morrisons to Cut Manager Roles.
Supermarket giant Morrisons have confirmed new plans to cut management staff by 2,600. This is part of its new restructuring that will affect 15,000 staff.
Morrison’s have already said the new approach had been tested and has led to better performance.
Roles which are at risk are department managers and supervisors. The former chairman, Sir Ken Morrison expressed his views earlier this month at an annual general meeting, tearing into the current boss’s strategy and receiving applause from hundreds of shareholders.
As well as the job cuts, the supermarket also plans on creating 1,000 jobs at Morrisons local stores and opening 3,000 new supermarkets. The store have said it will look to offer cut staff positions at these stores.
Morrisons slashed the prices on 1,200 items last month to try and encourage people to shop at a “new cheaper Morrisons”.
