Men Have More Disposable Income Than Women

Published / Last Updated on 06/08/2002

According to the latest figures from Alliance & Leicester's Wealth Tracker Index men spend on average £421 every four weeks compared to women who have a meagre £243.  This leaves women with 43% less than men to spend as they wish. However, it appears that women tend to spend more of their disposable income whilst men tend to invest theirs. Men tend to invest around 12% of their disposable monthly income compared to 3% for women.  An interesting find is that men emerge as the biggest investors, while women opt for safer options such as savings account.  Want to know more about women's financial independence?  Visit the female pensions section in Pensions Adviser.com.
