The Society of Financial Advisers (SOFA) has released research that many people are underestimating their life expectancy.
This may present problems both in terms of pensions and income provision in retirement but also the fact that certain financial products e.g. releasing the equity from your home will become less competitive.
Our view
Again, we commend SOFA (of which we are Fellows and Members of) for this insight. Education is the ony way forward. Getting the message across to the public that they you need to make adequate provision is crucial.
