ISA Contributions All Time High

According to HM Revenue figures, ISA contributions reached an all time high in the 2005/2006, tax year, with a total of £31 billion invested.  In total, people in Britain opened over 12 million ISA accounts last year, with contributions up by around £3 billion on last year's figures. 

The total amount invested in stocks and shares Isa's rose by 18.3%, while investment in mini-stocks and shares ISAs rose by 37%.  In the last year, over 1.5 million mini stocks and shares Isa's were opened, with a total of £2.25 billion invested within them. In the same period, there were also 1.5 million Maxi Isa's opened, with a total investment of £6.76 billion.

People are richer and markets were in recovery.  These figures are no surprise.
