Investor Confidence Up _ ISA Season

Published / Last Updated on 29/03/2006

A survey by the Association of Investment Trust Companies has found that 70% of active investors plan to use their 2006 ISA allowance, up from 57% last autumn.  Of these, 49% said that they intended to put their Isa money into shares. Thirty four per cent of the 54% of investors who want to increase their stock market exposure this year said that their biggest worry is the threat of a UK economic slowdown, while 36% feel optimistic about the stockmarket.

The Association believe that confidence has been increased by the strong performance of the markets.

Our view

When markets are up - people invest - THIS IS THE WRONG TIME to do this.   Remember buy low sell high.  If you invest when the market has already grown - you have missed the boat.
