Interest Rates Stay 5.0%

The Bank of England Monetary Policy Committee has today met and decided yet again to maintain Bank of England base lending interest rates at 5.0%.

Our view

No surprise here then.  As predicted, we suggest that no further interest rate reduction will come until after some stability is achieved in the lending market.

In short, there is no point trying to stimulate an economy which has a side effect of boosting confidence in the mortgage market only for their to still be little liquidity for lenders to agree mortgages.
