Interest Rates Held at 0.5 per cent.

The base rate has been held at 0.5 per cent by the Bank of England’s Monetary Policy Committee.  A rate rise had been expected in May, but release of positive growth figures provoked revised predictions that a rate rise was not likely now before August.

Three of the nine MCP members have consistently pushed for an increase in the base rate
