Insurance Industry Least Understood.
According to research by Unum, customers find insurance terminology and information the most difficult to understand. Technical language and complicated product information also dissuaded people from buying policies.
According to the study of more than 2,000 people, jargon-free language (64%) and using images (28%) help the most in making product information easily understandable for consumers.
Unum along with the Plain English Campaign are calling for insurers to reduce jargon and small print and simplify the language and presentation of product information.
