HSBC £12.5bn Rights Issue
HSBC Bank, one of the biggest banks in the World has today confirm it is looking to raise $17.7bn (£12.5bn) from shareholders via a rights issue.
The Bank announced profits of £6.5bn, down over 50% on last year. It suggested that this had been affected by huge losses in North America with a £15bn loss in the sub-prime mortgage market resulting in the closing of many lending operations in the US with the loss of over 6,000 jobs.
