The latest housing market survey from the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors has shown that house prices have increased for the third consecutive month. Nine per cent more chartered surveyors confirmed a rise in house prices than a fall, for the three months to January, compared with 8% in December. The strongest prices were in Scotland and London. The research also found that consumer confidence has improved, and mortgage interest has been going down.
Our view:
House prices continue to be stable rather than 'boom or bust'. This is good news and we expect this to continue.
