Home Information Packs (HIPs) Under Fire

Published / Last Updated on 22/11/2007

Conservatives

The Conservatives have pledged that if they are elected into power they will scrap Home Information Packs as a matter of urgency.

They claim that Home Information Packs have been forced onto the population and made the process of buying a home more bureaucratic.

However, a survey conducted by London & Country has indicated that 62 per cent of consumers believe that home information packs have little impact on them selling their home.

Our view

More effort should be made to work with HIPs as fundamentally they are an an excellent idea to speed up the home buying process.
