HMRC Mistake

HMRC Mistake

by Ashley Clark, Director

HM Revenue & Customs (HMRC) has admitted to a mistake by accidentally sending out other people's private details, including bank account data, to thousands of customers.

Tax credit annual award notices went out containing other people’s data were sent by mistake.

HMRC has said the error was the result of printing problems and that an investigation was underway.  They were also quick to say that identity theft could not happen with the data they wrongly sent.

Our View: Yet again, more errors and cock ups from HMRC.  It always seems to be one rule for the big boys and another for the rest of us.  It never seems to change.
