HMRC Landlord Tax Training.

HMRC has launched a series of online tax modules to help new, would be and professional landlords.

The objective of the modules is to help landlords understand their obligations in connection with the law, rents, expenses, HMRC Tax reporting, tenant obligations and more.

Laura Pollard, head of HMRC Campaigns, said: "This package has been developed to help landlords get their tax affairs right from day one. They can also use it to keep them on track in the future."

Comment

There is much information online already for landlords but it is unusual for HMRC to issue guidance or training.  If you telephone HMRC many operators tend to offer a "no comment, real the practices notes" and refer you to a section of the HMRC Practice Notes.  If you are lucky you speak with a specialist who offers a real opinion but all too often this is not the case.

We welcome HMRC's move for labdlord training and we hope they publish more guidance in the future.
