Hard Man Blunkett To Make Pensions Compulsory

Leading figures in the finance industry consider that the appointment of David Blunkett as Work and Pensions Secretary has increased the likelihood of compulsion. 

Scottish Widows believe that that he will not be afraid of implementing compulsory pension schemes, if the Turner report recommends it, probably starting with employer compulsion. 

Our View 

We believe that Labour's reduced majority will force the Government to listen to opposition views in the House of Commons, and new policies will be looked at more closely.

Expect some interesting debate in the next few years on resolving the UK's pension timebomb.
