According to the most recent Halifax House Price Index, house prices in the North have grown the most over the past three years. Out of the ten top growing areas, only one was in the south of England - Hastings. The rest were in the north of England, Scotland and Wales. Nine out of the top ten slowest rising counties were in the south of England.
Our View
Whilst Halifax talked about the best and worst rising prices, house price inflation does seem to be slowing, as we have already reported. First time buyers are still pushed to the absolute limit when it comes to purchasing a property and, from recent buy-to-let business booming, many would-be purchasers are renting.
