FTSE Drops Below 5000.
The FTSE is now 211 points lower at 4,857.08, following massive overnight losses in the US.
Elsewhere in Europe, leading indices in France and Germany are also experiencing significant falls. Asian markets suffered considerable losses in trading after an overnight sell-off in the US saw the Dow Jones drop more than 630 points.
