At the British Bankers Association annual fraud conference recently, the manager of the Financial Services Authority told delegates that the war against financial crime was far from over. She believes that criminals were as busy devising ways to break the law as they were trying to stop them.
Reducing financial crime is one of the Financial Services Authority's four main objectives, alongside maintaining market confidence, promoting consumer awareness and protecting customers. She told delegates that the Financial Services Authority needed to be more effective in alerting customers to issues to look out for, including new scams and new security features on its website.
