Fifty Pound Note Withdrawal

Fifty Pound Note Withdrawal

There is only a week left to exchange the £50 note which contains the picture of Sir John Houblon which was removed from circulation on the 30th April 2014. Most banks and building societies will be able to take the notes as deposits to customer accounts. However, exchanging the notes are only available at certain places.

Now only the £50 note that has the picture of Matthew Boulton and James Watt holds legal tender.

Barclays, RBS, Ulster Bank, Post Office and Natwest have all said yes to exchanging the old £50 note, up to a value of £200 until 30th October 2014.

The Bank of England will also continue to exchange these notes as it does with any other note that is no longer classed as legal tender.
