Ethical Investment Please _ More People Want To Go' Green'

Published / Last Updated on 03/09/2006

A recent survey from Friends Provident has found that a sixth of people in Britain now want ethical values as well as financial returns from their investments.

The report showed that while 23% wanted a pension fund that delivers the best possible returns without worrying how it was achieved, 16% now want ethical values to be included as well as profits.

People who live in London seem to be the most conscientious, with 19% wanting to invest in a pension that balances ethics and returns, followed by the southwest at 13%.

Our view

Friends Provident pioneered ethical investment with their Stewardship fund. Many people are becoming more aware and many are prepared to pay the slightly higher charges that are involved with ethical investment.
