Encourage Oldies To Work On

Published / Last Updated on 03/11/2005

Norwich Union believe that employers should be doing more to encourage older staff members to remain in the workplace.  Research by the company found that nearly two thirds of 45-54 year olds worry that they will be prevented from working for as long as they would like.  When asked what factors would stop them continuing in employment, almost a quarter of those polled said that the employer culture did not support older workers.  More than 10% said that there were no job opportunities for older people.

Our view

We agree.  Employees with experience should be actively encouraged.  We certainly seek experience as well as new blood!
