Childcare Vouchers Undervalued

Childcare Vouchers Undervalued

Childcare vouchers are one of the most common but misunderstood benefits.  A recent survey showed 70 per cent of all employers offered staff members childcare vouchers, but employees did not value them as much as human resources did.

One reason for this could be the lack of communication between employer and employee regarding the savings childcare vouchers could provide for staff members.

Parents could save up the £800 to £1200 a year by using the government-sponsored vouchers for approved childcare schemes and save on National Insurance contributions.

Our view

As ever, employees do not value what is done for them.  Pensions have been the most commonly undervalued befit until it is taken away.  Child care vouchers are just another unappreciated gesture as they need to be explained more.

As an employer, this is a very easy scheme to set up and you should consider it for staff.
