The Government is currently looking into how care funding in old age can be adequately and sustainably funded.
The first proposal was for everyone to pay £20,000 as a tax charge on death, with the second a flat 10% tax charge on all.
The Conservatives responded with the suggestion of a voluntary payment of £8,000 from everyone.
Everyone agrees that the costs of care are spiralling out of control as medical science advances and everyone lives longer. The debate continues.
