The mortgage industry is being backed by the Government, in their calls for estate agents to be regulated. The request is being made as estate agents provide an important role in the buying and selling of homes, and estate agents that operate unfairly should be aware that there is a law that will be enforced to protect the consumer.
The hope now is that once the regulations are passed that they will be as strict as those that Independent Financial Advisers work too.
Our view
We have always suggested that anything to do with peoples money should be regulated. Whether it is property, credit cards or secured and unsecured loans, they should all be governed by the Financial Services Authority.
