Last week at the CBI (Confederation of British Industry) conference in Birmingham, both Gordon Brown and newly elected Conservative leader, Michael Howard, vowd to reduce the admin burden on British businesses.
The "spin" being on making more regulations voluntary rather than enforcment by law. The aim also being to simplify many existing 'red tape regs' and make more voluntary codes.
Our view
Great spin, no chance. Both parties obviously chasing the same votes with the same approach. Voluntary codes on many things simply mean that they will just be ignored until they then have to become law to ensure compliance.
