Average UK Wealth Down £31,000

A report commissioned by the BBC has found that the average wealth per UK household has fell by £31,000 in a year.

The BBC claims that people have suffered from the combined effect of house price falls as well as stock market falls.

The report suggests that £422bn has been wiped off the value of houses and £393bn off shares.

We suggest when you also look at the weakness of the pound, then Britons are even poorer as our money buys even less overseas.  Therefore, when comparing to our European neighbours, we are probably nearer £40,000 poorer.

That said, markets do recover, the property market will recover as is the stockmarket currently.
