A&L has announced that it is to close 46 branches with effect 1 October.
Technology - they say this is because many clients are now starting to bank through other means such as online or by telephone.
Our view
It is admirable that A&L will try and relocate staff to other roles, however, we see this as a trend across the industry, online banking and call centres overseas as people demand more but are not prepared to pay high costs for the service.
Look out for more of the same from many finance houses.
