Going back on his promise, the Chancellor of the Exchequer Alasdair Darling has announced that the 50% tax introduced in the Budget will remain until 2015. This is a boost to the Treasury’s coffers of £10.7bn.
The tax on earnings over £150,000 was originally supposed to remain until the economy recovered, but this is now not the case.
