Research by Swiss Life has found that 25% of employees would be facing financial catastophre if you were unable to work for more than a month.
The research showed the despite this risk, only 1 in 10 had actually done something about some form of serious illness or income protection.
Our view
This research is not pleasant. People need to think really carefully about sickness or illness protection. It is all well and good spending £50pm on motor insurance. But if you were off sick, had an accident or suffered a serious illness there would be no car anyway.
The world is perverse where people care more about a piece of metal than they do themselves or their loved ones financial well being.
Even just spending £20 or £30 per month is better than having no protection.
