According to Bright Grey, a division of Royal London, one in three families are not protected against critical illness, income cover or life cover. In a bid to breach this gap, Bright Grey has launched a campaign to encourage advisers to review critical illness protection for clients.
This is also an attempt to build up the family protection market and help customers have the cover in place that they require.
Our view
Protection cover is a necessary requirement for people such as families who carry financial risk in the event of death or illness. The risk is often balanced though with the cost of premiums. Some families will decide to insure against this risk, others will take the risk and not have enough cover.
