11% Of Critical Illness Claims Declined

Published / Last Updated on 09/11/2005

Scottish Provident has published its second round of declined claims statistics for critical illness, as they believe that it is important to be open and honest about their critical illness claims.   The figures showed that the company had declined 11%, or 75 of the 686 total claims received in the period from January to June this year. Of the declined claims, 66 were because of non-disclosure during the application, and 9 claims had been turned down because conditions had not met the definitions set out in the policy.  Other providers that are publishing claim statistics include Standard Life, Friends Provident and Skandia.  Bupa, Liverpool Victoria, Scottish Widows and Prudential have all promised to publish their figures in the near future.
