Reviews of the financial services industry seem to be coming in thick and fast at the moment. The Sandler review in to medium and long term savings and the Pickering review into pensions simplification have just been launched.
The third review is one from the Government into simplifying the taxation system for pensions. This review was supposed to be issued at the same time as the Sandler and Pickering reviews but has been delayed.
According to Andrew Smith, Secretary for the Department of Work and Pensions, the review will be delayed until the autumn. The question is, were they waiting for the recommendations of Sandler and Pickering (who each touched upon the subject of taxation) before making their move. We will have to wait and see!
