
Working From Home Record High.
Figures from the Office for National Statistics (ONS) show that there was 4.2 million people working from home in January to March. This accounted for about 13.9% of the workforce.
This was the highest amount of home workers since figures started being recorded in 1998.
Of the workforce currently working from home 1.5 million people work from their home grounds while the remaining 2.7 million use their home as a base location and work in different locations.
In 1998 the amount of people working from home stood at 2.9 million, since then the number has grown by 1.3 million. Those working from home are more likely to be in a higher skilled role.
14.8% of those working from home were managers or senior officials, 35.2% were professionals or associates and 23.5% were working in a skilled trade.
