Women Demanding More Of Their Men

Published / Last Updated on 24/10/2006

A survey by National Savings & Investments shows women want their men to earn £50,000 per year and to have savings of £24,000, to be considered wealthy. Men are not so demanding and require £42,000 per year and savings of £15,000.

This is also reflected in the search for potential partners, where a healthy bank balance is a priority over owning a home and good looks.

The research has also shown that co-habiting and married couples save more than those who live on their own.

Our view

As ever, whether we like it or not, stereotypes and social conditioning is here to stay. Man is generally looked at as the provider.

This is why the figures are higher.
