Pensions Minister, Ian McCartney, has announced that widowers claiming bereavement benefit can now receive a contracted out rebate. The amendment to section 18 of the Pensions Credit Act has now enabled both men and women to be treated equally whilst in the same circumstances. Previously, only women were entitled to the rebate.
