A survey by Barclays Wealth has suggested that 60% of so called wealthy people in the UK do not retire early and indeed many work well past age 65 with some never retiring.
The survey also suggest that the UK has the highest percentage of late retirees of all the top 20 World economies. In their survey, wealthy people were defined as those having more than £1m in liquid or invested assets outside property and pension funds.
The UK topped the retirement ‘postponers’ at 60% with the US at 54%, Japan 46%, 44% in Spain and 34% in Switzerland.
